Pepper rasam
A good medicine for cold and cough.Especially if you have sore throat,pepper rasam will do the magic.It will be a good combo with hot rice.
Ingredients:
- Whole Pepper:1 tblspn
- Tomato(chopped):1 small
- Green chilly :1
- Tamarind:A gooseberry size
- Asafoetida/kayam: 1/2 tspn
- Turmeric powder:1/4 tspn
- Garlic:2 cloves
- Cumin seeds/Jeerakam:1/2 tsp
- Coriander leaves:Few
- Salt
To temper:
- Dry red chilly:1
- Mustard/kaduku:1/2 tspn
- Fenugreek seeds/uluva:1/4 tspn
- Ghee:1/2 tspn
- Oil :1/2 tspn
- Curry leaves:Few
Method:
- Soak tamarind in a cup of water, take extract and strain it.Keep aside.
- Crush pepper,garlic and cumin together.Mix it with tamarind extract and tomato.
- Add green chilly,salt and turmeric powder.
- Add 1 cup of water.
- Let it boil.Then keep the stove in low flame.
- Heat the pan with oil and add oil and ghee
- Add mustard seeds.when it splutters add fenugreek seeds,dry chilly and curry leaves.
- Pour it over rasam.
- Finally add chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve it hot with rice
very flavourful rasam.. Always love it with hot rice.
