Uzhunnu vada/Urad dal fritters
Ingredients:
- Urad dal/uzhunnu:1cup(I
used 200ml cup)
- Cooked rice:1/4 cup
- Fenugreek :1/4 tspoon
- Onion:1 big
- Ginger:small piece
- Green chilly chopped:2
- Pepper corn:1/4tspn
- coriander leaves
- Curry leaves
- salt
- oil
Method:
- Soak urad dhal and fenugreek for 2 hours
- Drain and grind it in a grinder(if you are using mixer
grinder try to add less amount of water. I used food processor )with
cooked rice
- Don’t add salt while grinding
- Chop onion ginger green chilly curry leaves and
coriander leaves add pepper too. Mix the vada batter to the chopped ingredients.
Now you can add salt
- It is important to check the consistency of the batter.
If it is running you can’t make good vada and if the batter is too thick
the vada will not be soft.
- Wet your palm and make small balls with the batter
press it and make small hole with your thumb.(Each time you have to wet
your hand).First time you feel it as tough but by practice it will be easy.
Or you can use plantain leaf(vazhayila)for shaping the vada.
- Drop it slowly to the hot oil
- Fry the vadas till golden
brown
- Serve it with chutny ,sambhar or even simply with tea
